  • Dr. Richard Cottrell

     

    Dr. Richard Cottrell, owner, began his undergraduate education at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in 1991. He continued his education at Virginia Commonwealth University from 1992-1994. In 1994, he was accepted into the School of Dentistry at Virginia Commonwealth University. He opened his practice in King George, VA in September of 1998.

    Dr. Cottrell is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, Dental Implants Associates of North Carolina, United States Dental Institute, Academy of Laser Dentistry, American Dental Association, International Congress of Oral Implantology and the American Congress of Oral Implantology. 

    His passion for dentistry and his value for education, also led him to want to give back to the upcoming dental students by teaching part-time at dental school. He began doing this one year after he graduated and found gratitude as he watches his students develop and grow into successful dentists. 

    Some of Dr. Cottrell’s hobbies include golfing, fishing, traveling and spending time with his wife and three sons. He is originally from Forked River, NJ. He was inspired by his uncle to become a dentist, as he was, and so he went back to college at the age of 26 and pursued his dream. Dr. Cottrell loves dentistry and always puts the patient’s best interest first. He is a very fun-loving, happy person who always has a smile on his face! 

  • Dr. George Cheng

     

    Dr. George Cheng has been practicing dentistry since 2002. He attended the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Sciences for his undergraduate studies and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry with his dental degree.

    Committed to staying on the cutting-edge of the latest treatments and technologies in the field of dentistry, Dr. Cheng maintains memberships with such prestigious organizations as the American Dental Association and the Richmond Dental Society.

    In his leisure time, Dr. Cheng enjoys playing tennis, basketball, football and watching UVA Sports.

  • Dr. Gabriel Martin

     

    Dr. Gabriel Martin is also a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, and has been providing dental care for his patients since 2006. He is a member of such prestigious organizations as the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Virginia Dental Association and the Implant Forum of Virginia.

    As an active member of the community, Dr. Martin volunteers his dental services three times a year with Mission of Mercy Projects and participates in fundraisers to support Massey Cancer Center. During his spare time, he enjoys running, being outdoors, hiking, camping, snow skiing, swimming and woodworking.

  • Dr. Ariadne Hernandez

     

    Dr. Ariadne Dane Hernandez is the newest addition to the Cottrell and Associates family.  She is a Virginia native who had an extensive dental history working as a dental assistant and lab tech in practices in Northern Virginia before her decision to pursue dentistry.  In 2007, she graduated with honors from the University of Mary Washington and then proceeded to attend the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

    As an avid learner, Dr. Hernandez attends many continuing education courses to keep informed of the latest materials and techniques that dentistry has to offer.  She is an active member of the Virginia Dental Association, American Dental Association, Richmond Dental Society, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Hernandez has organized and helped in several volunteer dental mission trips both internationally and locally including the Jamaica Project, the El Salvador Medical and Dental Mission Trip and the MOM Project to name a few.

    In her spare time, Dr. Hernandez enjoys traveling, hiking, fishing, snowboarding, and wakeboarding

  • Dr. Erika Sachno

     

    Dr. Sachno was born and raised in Staunton, Virginia. She attended Robert E. Lee High School, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1994. She then went on to earn a B.A. in Biology from the University of Virginia.

    Dr. Sachno is a 2002 graduate of the VCU School of Dentistry. She served on active duty in the U.S. Navy for four years as a general dentist. In 2006, she returned to Richmond and worked as an associate general dentist for one year before accepting a full-time faculty position in the Department of General Practice at the VCU School of Dentistry. In 2009, she began a three-year orthodontic residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she graduated in 2012 with both a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry.

    Currently, she is an adjunct faculty member in the VCU School of Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry, where she teaches interceptive orthodontics to the pediatric residents.  Dr. Sachno has a passion for teaching, and makes patient education a top priority.

    She also enjoys giving back to her community through the Virginia Mission of Mercy Project, as well as dental mission trips, such as a recent mission trip to Nicaragua. She is an avid tennis player, loves spending time with her family and friends, and enjoys traveling, swimming, skiing, hiking, and cycling.
