Dr. Richard Cottrell, owner, began his undergraduate education at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in 1991. He continued his education at Virginia Commonwealth University from 1992-1994. In 1994, he was accepted into the School of Dentistry at Virginia Commonwealth University. He opened his practice in King George, VA in September of 1998.
Dr. Cottrell is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, Dental Implants Associates of North Carolina, United States Dental Institute, Academy of Laser Dentistry, American Dental Association, International Congress of Oral Implantology and the American Congress of Oral Implantology.
His passion for dentistry and his value for education, also led him to want to give back to the upcoming dental students by teaching part-time at dental school. He began doing this one year after he graduated and found gratitude as he watches his students develop and grow into successful dentists.
Some of Dr. Cottrell’s hobbies include golfing, fishing, traveling and spending time with his wife and three sons. He is originally from Forked River, NJ. He was inspired by his uncle to become a dentist, as he was, and so he went back to college at the age of 26 and pursued his dream. Dr. Cottrell loves dentistry and always puts the patient’s best interest first. He is a very fun-loving, happy person who always has a smile on his face!
